Nominet have a huge administrative overhead from receiving hundreds of calls a day from people wondering when names like blue.co.uk or nutrition.co.uk are going to be released. (I am not name dropping Brett, these are suspended names that are not live). They in fact receive hundreds of calls a week regarding just these two names. Some names as a result have been put on permanent hold. They will never be released.
Think twice about contacting a former registrant to ask if they would be willing to cancel it so that you can register it. They almost invariably turn greedy and suddenly the name that they so carelessly let lapse becomes their instant ticket to riches.
Nominet are now regularly releasing these names and many very valuable names are coming up for grabs. I obviously can't plug my own service but searching on google for services that monitor these names on your behalf and then register them for you when they become available is likely to secure you some great catches!
and dont we know about that one , eh :)

i gotta disagree there - i've seen domains suspended then released following enquiries. but like i said before, there is no guarantee a domain will get suspended or released. at the very worst, there's no harm in trying because they're not being released anyway.
the new system of released all detagged domains should help enourmously although it'll take a long long time.
lots, but others in this thread know even more than me.
Willie Black would be having a heart attack reading this :)

as CHC has said, no public information.
and to be honest no-one will tell you what the trick is,
just not the done thing.

There are a number of domains i am after that relate to a certain product/service, who could monitor any domains that relate to that topic? For example:
Any domain relating to nightclubs so if for example clubbing.com is soon to be available could someone inform me? I realise there would proberbly be a cost for this! I've tried the search engines but no luck!
