I'm not affiliated with GoDaddy nor do I care if you buy domain names for cheap :) However my last phone call with GoDaddy had the representive tell me about their $5.00 .US domain Name call in special. Simply call them up and tell em you want the domains for $5 bucks. He said he doesn't know when it will expire. And you gotta call their phone number (480) 505-8877 and its not toll-free. But you can register up to 10 years at that rate.

Thanks for the tip, now i can use those free phonecards that keep comming in my mailbox.

Also do you know if there is any special terms with this deal, like you can't transfer the domain, they own the domain etc?

Per the rules, They would not be able to restrict movement. So you could buy and then move after 60 days. Should like a good deal. I am trying to recall the .US wholesale price. I think it was $5.50. I wish I remember where that price is posted. Anyone?

Sure, you have to have them to protect brand, but unfortunately, there isn't much use for a .us domain.

Ever run into one in a search engine? Doesn't seem like there are many active domains on the .us tld.

Any reason why the .us should not explode over the next couple of years?
It's cheap, it's available, it denominates origin-->trust...

I think the fact they have fallen from $25+ a year ago down to $5 per year speaks about it's popularity and desireability. Everyone is tired of getting burned on these tlds. Look at the waste .biz and .info are.

Hard to understand from a european point of view, where ccTLDs simply are the way to go.

In my industry one of the guys who is always in the top 3 is a .us domain name, so I think there is some value in these. I mean I would like to think that google and the rest have realized that its not just .com any more, there are other domains.

With locational businesses I have been getting them .US domains and we've seen good results as far as SEP. Cheapness in domain names is what I look for, i actually have one .info and i havnt lauhnched the site yet but when it does i hope its catchy :D

Is GoDaddy still offering the $5 .us domain names via phone? Or has the offer already expired?
