Hi all,

I very almost registered a couple of .us names last night but ended up going for the .net's.

Anyone have any results from these domains yet? Opinions or thoughts on it...

Thanks...

Nick

No results, but deffinitely thoughts. Unless my business was very much drawing on patriotic feelings in US inhabitants, I wouldn't even consider .us. Maybe for a personal site, if .com, .net, and .org were all taken. I thought about grabbing the my nickname dot us, but decided against it and don't regret it. On the other hand, if the same name in .net ever expires, it's mine.

If the .us version of one's name is available, it is absolute madness not to snap it up, if only for brand protection issues.

Can anyone imagine how unhappy they'd be if a competitor or disgruntled ex-customer put up a spoiler site on the .us version of their URL?

You have a point. I was just thinking of using it as the primary or sole domain for a business, which is what I wouldn't consider. Brand protection measures are something else again, and something I got burned by quite recently.
