ok so what value does a domian name have? ofcourse we all know a key domain name is the key for everything, but i have been researching it and legally the law says domains have no value they are like telephone numbers , you only register them you dont own them so they are of no value .

has anyone been involved in a lawsuit or selling issue where this has come up?

There is no value in the DN itself other than the expense of registering that DN and perhaps hosting costs. The only possible value above that is in the marketing/branding value of the DN. And this is completely subjective.
