I'm trying to find a place where I can register a spanish domain. What is the extension for spain? I have a client with a spanish office, a spanish website, but the spanish version of their site is now a subweb of their english. I'd like to give them a spanish extension and have them indexed in european search engines.

I believe the extension for spain is .es for espana (don't know how to type the funny "n" they use) :)

As to where to register, perhaps try a search on Google?

now that I know it's a .es, I can search a lot easier. I found one registrar that says it's $700 for a two year registration. holy crow!

[nic.es...]

However the site doesn't do a good job at telling people how to register a name.

I believe that to register an .es domain name you must either show birth certificate or business registry for the name in question to prove that it is yours to register. Don't know if things have changed in the last 2 years though so better check.
And no, they are not cheap.

Hi there

To be able to register a spanish domain you need:

- The domain name to be the same as your registered company. Here it not allowed keyword domain names.

- The Comany must be in the spanish register.

The company I use to register my domains is www.todored.com, nice and friendly people.

Unfortunaly guys here were are still in the Prehistoric Era..(in some things anyway)

thanks
