Guys,
What is more valuable (all things being equal) a dot US url or a dot INFO url? I have Kauai.INFO, and my friend has Kauai.US. He thinks his url is worth more, and I disagree.
Thoughts?

If you have a site for something US related than .US, for something general like all topics you can have a .INFO, i like .info rather than .us but for IRC i like vhosts like eliteweb@come.follow.us ;) spell things outta it ;) like with sentences ending in us.

When dealing with US things. I would say .US wins. But .info can handle everything.

I'd take a .info over .us any day, but would find an available .com for a business.

I'll vote for .info .

For the simple reason(s) that :

1. Its International in nature compared to .us .
2. The internet in itself, is a Information superhighway, in the long run, this TLD shud be getting more attention and importance !

Infact, i will be experimenting with a .info domain....meaning will try to make it popular with excellent and useful content !

Cheers

This really depends on the type of site you are building. If it is information based or topical, I'd say go with .info.

.US is an obvious choice for a North American business or personal site. I managed to get my first name .US, and plan to build my site there, and also use it for email. I much prefer having my first-name.us, rather than first-name.info.

If it's for business, I'd vote for .info, too, mainly because of the advertising I saw when .us was announced. It was really geared toward individuals and families, suggesting they could get theirname.us and use it for personal sites, personal email, etc. And of course it had the requisite red, white, and blue everywhere. :)

Anyway, the .us advertising really portrayed a more personal, less business-like image and for that reason I'd go with .info for a business site.

I disagree strongly. To me, spotting a .info sends the message "this site is about information regarding what the domain name suggests". Thus, I'd expect widgets.info to be a site with informative information about widgets. I wouldn't expect a *seller* of widgets to be using a .info. Whereas widgets.us to me suggests the #1 source in the USA to buy widgets.

As for the advertising, I doubt many people ever saw it, or it made much of an impression.
