CNAMEs / Canonicals and Dedicated IP

Which does better?

Question:
Are canonicals with dedicated (or their own) IP addresses better with search engines than those with out?

My thoughts on it are no.

But, I wanted to put this on to webmasterworld, to get peoples feedback. It does not seem reasonable that a search engine would favor canonicals with dedicated IPs over those which do not… But, I wonder?? Which is why I put out this post.

A side note: I could name a list of technical reasons where host providers are concerned, why search engines would not force this option for dedicated IP addresses for canonicals in order to gain a better listing la la la. I don’t want to get into that now. I am looking at the basic fact which does better.

I can say from my experience IPs have nothing to do with Google. Google just looks at the site and makes the judgment based on the content alone.

But I would stay away from CNAMES, use "A" records. ;) (Just a personal preference)
