Whois Replaced with " Make Anonymous Offer "

the whois search on register.com used to give the actual registrant and other relevant info on a registerd domain...!

To my surprise today, when i wanted to check the who is info...it gives me this ..

Although your name has been registered by another user, you can make an anonymous offer ($200 minimum) to purchase it through the Afternic Virtual Broker.

The same happens for all the domains whether a domain is up for auction or not at afternic.com ( which is also now owned by register.com )

How many of you accept it as a welcome change..??
By doing this , will they be offering any better service to their customers...I seriously DOUBT !

I noticed that change as well and I find it extremely annoying. However, if you look a little further down the page, you will see a link to view the WHOIS information.

I keep making anonymous offers on Afternic.com, but the owner never responds. :)

In Afternic, the classified-type posting section to request a specific domain or type of domain name used to be helpful and pretty active up until about 4 months ago. Now it is virtually unused, unmonitored and spammy.

Afternic also removed their chat too. I think they are pushing this anonymous thing to much!
