How would you rank the following domain names for a search for "yellow pages", all else being equal?: yellowpages.net, pages-yellow.com, pagesyellow.com, yellowpagesonline.com.

i.e.
1) Are .net or .org domains ranked as highly as .com's?
2) Are hyphens discriminated against? How about more than one as in us-patent-search.com? ([webmasterworld.com ])
3) How does a no-hyphen .com domain name with an extraneous word at the beginning or end rank in comparison to hyphenated domains or .net's?
4) Finally, how much does the word order matter?

I tend to go with hyphenated names - especially if I'm concerned about the Yahoo title.

1). I've never noticed any discrimination against any tld - they all rank the same.
2). I've never noticed any penalties against hyphens - noticed slight gains.
3). Couldn't say that the difference between hyphenated and non hyphenated domains is worth losing sleep over. The content is more of a factor than anything else.
4). I always try to make it like you say it - it really doesn't seem to matter at all though.

I concur 100% with Toolman.
As far as your example is concerned:

I would get both
yellow-pages.com (if avail)
yellowpages.net

and forget about the others...
