Yes, they work so far as ranking goes. Over the last 2 years or more, I've had some in the top 5 on moderately competive terms (250k returns), and though I've quit promoting mine I know of one competitor that still has one in the top 5 there.

The main problem, IMO, is one of perception. In the US market, .us is a weak step-sister when compared to .com.

have you noticed that there are some real high price domains still available ?

Also if they are out there for last 2 years, than why this site is saying that they are in sunrise period.

This is 2002 right ? I know I slept long last night, but I hope this is still 2002...

>available

To tell the truth, even though I have 40 or so registered (back when they were free), I have so little interest in the .us domains that I wouldn't know what's available and what's not. In my categories, I'd rather have .info or even .biz.

.us has been around for far longer than 2 years. They're in a sunrise period right now because the company that just took over the registry decided to run .us like it's .biz or .info.

For comparison, here's the URL for how .us was run back in 1992: ftp://ftp.isi.edu/in-notes/rfc1386.txt

Yes, I've had mine 4 or 5 years. The previous system was extremely cumbersome, imo.

sunrise = sales hype
