Hi,

I am toying with selling an established domain to raise money for a new venture.

I did a search on Google and there is quite a lot of returns.

Anyone have past good exierences on whom to use?

TIA,

Brian

How much are domains worth now ?

I know that is very general but say :

A domain had the following qualities :

generic
2000 uniques a day
listed in SEs
etc

I remember when domains were worth serious money, but what are they worth now?

10's
100's
1000's

any experience ?

Thanks in advance for addressing a very generic question

diddlydazz,

I mean this in all seriousness. A domain name is worth whatever someone will pay for it, no more, no less. The real art lies in finding interested buyers and then negotiating.

Since you mention that you are trying to sell an "established" domain, do you anticipate selling the content and all that too? The reason I ask is that the domain name brokers that I'm familiar with deal with sales of domain names, and not websites. If you have an established site, and can part with the content, then you will probably bring in a lot more than by just selling the domain.

I listed a site of mine on ebay content and all. It eventually sold for more than 5 times what I expected it to, not to mention way over my reserve price. Perhaps that's a commentary on my inability to correctly price things, but it also indicates that you can succesfully negotiate the sale of a site and all content.

Hi,

Thanks all for the responses. I also did a site search and found one other thread with a couple of recomends also. Motto I guess use all tools before asking ;).

I just bought a domain name using escrow.com and simply signing faxed transfer sheets for register.com between the seller and I.

It seemed much easier than some of the other options. The fee's were significantly less than what afternic wanted. $100 for escrow.com and $35 for register.com
