When promoting a .biz to which the .com counterpart is taken donīt I risk driving traffic to the .com site? Wonīt people automatically tend to add the .com when typing in the domain name?
The domains Iīm thinking of buying consist of keywords describing a service, they are pretty intuitive names.

For type in traffic this may become a concern until/unless .biz catches on as much as .com. But as long as someone is clicking on your link (SE's, links etc...)then it doesnt matter at all. One plus may prove to be that .biz is only for bussiness use whereas .com's have been used for many purposes. Only time will tell.
Also, if the .com owners of your domain have some name recognition, you may actually get some of their traffic if you are more expert than they @ SE placement and linking.

My opinion on .biz is that it sounds cheap...like it belongs with a "Mega-Master MLM Make a Million Dollars from your web site" kinda thing.

I guess we'll see where it's headed.

Are you saying that I should not buy:

Mega-Master-MLM-Make-a-Million-Dollars-from-your-web site.biz ?

I agree with toolman on this...

I don't think .biz will take off because it sounds way too tacky - I'd fully expect to find a site full of banner ads and affiliate links at the other end of one of these
