Is The Domain Registration Date In Whois FAKE?

Domains Available A Few Months Ago But Not Now

Today, I tried to register the plural versions of several of my domains that I registered a few months ago. The names are catchy that I managed to recover the registration cost from advertisement within one month. Now, I wanted to register the plural versions of that domain names and all of them are not available. :S

I swear that they were available a few months back. I regret that I didn't register all of them immediately. I kept on delaying. I know it is my fault. I am aware (suspect) that somebody out there is monitoring our domain registration and yet I did not follow the advises I have always given to others. Register the singular and plurals of your domains immediately.

What I wanted to know is, is it possible that the registration date in the Whois database is fake? Because I wonder how come those domains were available back then when I tried to register the singular version of the domain names but not now. When I checked at the Whois database it shows that they were registered long before I registered and they are expiring either this year or next year. So, I begin to suspect that the registration date in Whois is fake.

Doubtful as the registration date is - to the best of my understanding - an output of the central registry for the TLD, making it less likely that anyone could conspire with a registrar to rig the dates.

Then again, it's all just a bunch of networked computers and we know how reliable and secure such systems are. :0)
