"Easily Brandable"

What does this mean for a domain name?

I am reading a post by "Brett_Tabke" named "Successful Site in 12 Months" Under step B Domain Name it says "Easily Brandable. You want "google.com" and not "mykeyword.com"". I am not sure if I completely understand this. Does it mean that he reccommends that you use something like ABCWidgets.com vs Widgets.com. In other words something that you bascialy come up with yourself instead of just a generic type of word? Thanks for your help.

I'm not an expert on this topic, but imho, "easily brandable" means a short, sweet, and memorable name, which could be generic word(s) or made-up name. It's much more easy to brand any short, sweet, memorable, made-up name (google.com) than it is to brand a domain with lengthy/many keywords/hyphens in it (red-blue-green-widgets.com).

Short, memorable, easy to type, not easily misspelled.

And perhaps evocative of it's purpose, without using a bunch of keywords. I think you can stretch it to include ONE keyword and some made-up word or slang.

Let's say it's a site about pet supplies.

A pure keyword domain would be petsupplies.tld, pet-supplies.tld, or bestpetsupplies.tld. Here's the problem with this approach: was it bestpetsupplies or greatpetsupplies, or betterpetsupplies? Will users remember?

A brandable name might be fripple.tld. But that doesn't make you think of pet supplies.

So, maybe petfripple.tld. Or petquick.tld or petzoom.tld, say if you specialize in quick shipment.

They aren't exactly keyword domains, but they still suggest what they are about.

If you're in Australia, maybe waggeroo.tld.
