Which domain would be best for branding?

widgetworld or widget-world, .com or .co.uk

Hi guys,

I've just bought 4 nice shiny new domains for my latest little business venture. Its an ecom site and has the potential to be quite successful if marketed properly. Anyway the domains I've purchased are in the format

www.widgetworld.com
www.widgetworld.co.uk
www.widget-world.com
www.widget-world.co.uk

I'm based in the UK as you can probably guess. I think .com always sounds too American, but maybe I'm wrong.

My gut instinct is www.widgetworld.co.uk This lets people know we are a UK firm, and if we were ever featured on a Radio ad for example, they wouldn't have to say 'widget dash world dot co dot uk?

What do you reckon, am I right, or not?

Thanks in advance.

The dash would kill it, for exactly the reason you give.

On the same subject, how would the domains be setup as that is my project for this afternoon.

Would the other 3 names be sent to the main site by setting their DNS names to the same IP address of the main site - is this a redirect?

I am confused around the terminolgy.

Not to hijack the thread but it is related.

cheers

digicam,

I'm glad you asked, as this was going to be my next question. What the 'best' way of redirecting the other 3 domains to that one would be?

Thanks again.
