Rule #2: In today's marketplace, if you want to expand your list of potential buyers, be prepared to show traffic stats. You can build traffic stats in a variety of ways, the best way is to park the domains with a domain parking service: DomainSponsor, Fabulous, Sedo, etc.
Rule #3: Clever or catchy word domains, without evidence of traffic, are the closest thing to lottery tickets: Vast numbers are registered. Winners are rare.
You can list domains without traffic stats at any of the many domain forums that allow this. DNForum and NamePros are two such forums. However, at such forums, most buyers will approach a purchase as a 1) traffic purchase (so have stats) OR, 2) a speculative aftermarket purchase whereby the most the buyer will pay is 1/10 (or so) of what they believe they might actually be able to sell the domain for at some future speculative date (with the rare exception of someone who might actually develop the domain).
There's also Afternic and Sedo for direct sales.
