I have a client that currently has a DN different from its business’ name.

I was not involved with that client at the name choosing time and I have been told that its biz name
as a “ .com “ was not available.

Today I can get it for a fee ($588)
However the same real business name became available as a “ .biz “

At this time its website has no PR, is ugly, not optimized
and looks to have been done 10 years ago by an earlier frontpage-guru-trigger-happy!

So changing of DN is no big deal and it will even be better to start fresh.

But about “ .biz “ I have no clue about its value VS a regular “ .com “

Your input?

Thanks.

Personally, when I see .biz I don't think of it as a legitimate business. It gives me the impression that the site is run by a n00b 19 year old who can't spell due to overexposure to texting.

It sends the messages "third-tier", "possible scam", "amateur".

The price for the real domain sounds cheap. If somebody just knows the company name, what are they going to type in? You want that one.

Spend the $588 and the extra $ to pick up the .biz while you are at it. If he/she develops the .biz and someone later develops the .com the traffic leakage, for those who type-in the domain for a visit/return trip, may make him regret the decision to not acquire the .com.

We knew you knew but it was gracious of you to afford us a chance to sit, sip tea and chat for awhile. :)

It's now past 6:00 P.M.

Pass me a beer, Henry. :0)

What I did mean:
I was weighting options
and that if I was asked the question I probably (after a while) would have given your answer.
I also candidely acknowledge that I never thought about .biz and seriousness

Still on a serious note
after 6PM I am pouring myself a nice Jack's :)

Henry, you are one of the consistently civilized and gracious posters. My jest, about tea and conversation, simply averred to the pleasure I take in dialogue with you . . and once again, in your gracious follow on, you prove yourself the better man. :)

Now, pass me a boilermaker. It's been a challenging week. :)
