Would i be allowed to register a domain name associated with google?

say for example google created a new product called google widgets, would I be allowed to register google-widgets.co.uk?

Numerous posts in various domain forums suggest the Big G is very serious in enforcing and protecting their trademarks. I just read one recent post where the registrant asked them if it's okay, and they said no.

So sure, no one's stopping you from registering a domain name associated with Google. But that doesn't mean they'll let you keep it. ;)

Give it a try, man, and see what happens. Maybe you can get G to buy your domain afterwards to protect their trademark. (Make sure you don't in any way represent yourself as G in the content, or you'll be hearing from their lawyers.)

Thanks for the reply.

I looked on the other post and from reading that and your replies I will ask Googles permission first.

But ive looked on Google and the only way I can see to contact them over this matter is to fax them, is there an email I can use to email Google?

Paper trail is the only way to go on this. Fax or certified mail, keeping copies of everything forever and reading every reply carefully.

If you are going this path and plan to invest considerable effort - lawyer up. Make certain you completely understand all "terms and conditions" IF they give you the ok.
