Most opportunity is in reselling?

or are there still "good" names to register?

Domains are one thing I passed on time and time again. I was just always too busy with my other projects. Now that I am "winding down" a little, I'm back to thinking about domains again ...

Obviously if you are lucky enough to register some off the wall name that later becomes a household name, you'll make a killing. But is there still opportunity in registering new names at his point, for wannabe domainer?

If nothing else it seems that good domains will always be a good investment, and that's what has most of my interest at this point. Find decent names where the owners need cash now or just don't have the patience, sit on them for a few years, and sell for triple digit returns in the future.

I assume people are pretty tight lipped when it comes to this stuff ... but are there any good resources out there for a wannabe domainer aside from the big 3 forums?

Most opportunity is in buy,hold,develop.

Reselling domains puts a limit on how much you can earn; developing domains does not put any limits on your income.

Developing real sites around them, or just developing some revenue streams that you assume will continue indefinitely?

i found four or five tonight. under 10 characters. easy to spell and remember. use the right tools/software and they're easy to find.

i've found myself buying at least one or two (heh) domains per month, even if i don't do anything with them yet. this way, they're gaining 'age', which, imho, is one of the new 'factors' in ranking.

it's very, very hard to fake age of the domain. lol. ;)

the domain game is a tough business. You have to have a lot of cash, or be pretty sharp to do well.

I agree that buying a name and developing it has the most upside for the average person.
