www or not www?

Which to stick with?

I've set up a rewrite that redirects from www.example.com to example.com to make sure I don't get penalized for duplicated content. However I'm not sure if it's best to have the www version or the non-www version be the official one. Can anyone offer some advice on this?

Are there any studies showing that users will dislike a url changing from www.example.com to example.com? Or that non-www sites have a negative effect on the brand and the appearance of a domain name/url? (ie: will non-www sites look less like an url to most people?)

Have you seen this monster thread: Is "www" redundant? [webmasterworld.com]

I do it the same way you do (www-less) others argue the opposite. What's important is that you choose one or the other and be consistent with it throughout your marketing campaign.
