domain name on hold: other options?

I found a domain name I would like to register, but it currently is on hold with registrer.com. I've found another topic here [webmasterworld.com...] where I find it can hold a domain for a couple of years! Since I don't have a visa card or so and am not in the US, I can't contact the owner for a deal and pay him. So I'll write to [e-mail] and complain the domain is on hold for longer than 45 days.

Now I wonder, are there any other options for me?

edit: I found it's not on hold but in redemptionperiod.

Don't bother emailing that group about that domain on redemption period. It's legit.

Just count 36 days from its last updated date, that's when it'll be available.
