Hi

I know there is bound to be some people here who will have taken some of those english generic .jp domains - I couldnt help myself from registering one in a field I am interested in but since buying it a couple of hours ago I am already second guessing myself on the commercial value of it for development.

More haste less speed should have been applied but I am still in recovery from an affiliate get together that had way to much alchohol involved :-)

Do Japanese surfers associate with english generic words or have I just wasted a few quid?

Some very basic English keyword domains can be understood in Japan, but don't look for a lot of type-in traffic. Japan's populace usually ranks at the very bottom of the list when it comes to Asian countries' English language abilities. The value really comes with a well developed site in Japanese.

I've got .jp domains with up to 100 typein visitors a day, though most get a lot less. Strong 1-word generics seem to attract at least *some* traffic, especially if the word is the same as in Japanese, or would be well-known to a Japanese audience (no specifics, as per the forum Charter)
