Dear friends,

I've been looking around about how to be a domain name registrar and all i found are some websites that want you to affiliate with them or something like that, i need to know if there is a way to become a domain name registrar without affiliation, from the root, and what possibilities do i have to be a registrar for the most used domains..

Thanks Guys .. wish you best of luck..

[icann.org...]

Since registrars are approved by ICANN you need to dig into the ICANN website.

As I recall there's requirements of proof of financial stability (possibly a bonding requirement), proof of technical competence, etc.

This is just a "neat idea" or impulse, right? My concern is that if you were really cut out for this level of business responsibility you would have figured out this answer all by yourself. Maybe not. Maybe you're better at business than search engine queries. ;)

But maybe once you read about the process you'll see either that it is indeed for you or that becoming a registrar is a lot more work than you thought. Either way, good luck!

OBTW - IF you go through with this and, in fact, complete the process and become an accredited registrar, I'd love to hear back from you about the experience.

Great! You obviously enjoy a challenge. Good luck and welcome to WebmasterWorld. Remember to share what you know - post up, so to speak - as there's always something that you know better than the next person. ;)

One registrar's reseller recently acquired a smaller registrar in a bid to speed up their accreditation.
