If a company is called "<something> Studios" and has domain name <something>studios.com, where <something> is yet to be defined, what associations would you have with it? Is "Studios" typically movie/hollywood-related, or game industry perhaps? Or can it just as well be anything in general.
For the sake of it, let's assume <something> would be <a plant name> If you encounter a company named Plantname Studios, would you be very confused if they turned out to make graphics software? Would you rather expect they make movies or games, or that it's some sorta fancy growing facility or whatever? :)
Obviously a name like this is not directly related to software, but I'm just wondering how native American / English speakers would react on such a name.
Thanks in advance!

[edit reason] Let's not mention, nor vote about anyone's actual domain names please [/edit]
What you're asking is for members to publicly speculate about good domains to register - because that's what you're after. I don't think this is the best approach.
Also, I'm afraid that this will devolve into a thread where people want to start posting "good word, but taken" comments. Basically an end run around "not mentioning words in a domain".
I'll allow this thread to run a bit, to see IF it can work. It might work if people honor the spirit and intent and "letter of the law" of the Forum Charter.
I know there are several other software companies called "<something> Studios", and I'm curious whether that's something that could confuse people or make them frown, in the case of a company doing graphics software.
Yep. Note the question was asking what do *I* associate with "studios"? I feel that was a piss poor choice of a name for Macromedia to have used. I'd figure from the name it would have something to do with professional audio recording, as in something aimed at record companies.
"Studio" in that sense is better ..full of bohemia , semi clad or even naked girls and wine , music , sketches etc ...ah takes me back ..;) ...
Not here (Ireland). It means a teensy weensy overpriced "apartment", in which the swinging of a new-born kitten, nevermind a cat, would be a challenge.
Other than that I would associate it with photographers and artists, in that order.
To me a studio is where creative works are created - as opposed to what used to be called studio couches (like daybeds), mostly used in matchbox sized 1 room studio apartements in Manhattan.
Studio = place for creativity of any kind, imho. And now I'm thinking of some killer domain names. :)
