Switching from one host to another.

Need some advice on conflicts regarding switching from one host to another.

I am using the same URL but I'm switching hosts. I started the process yesterday but as of today I can not access either the old or new host location.

Has anyone ran into a snag like this? What conflicts should I expect with 2 live locations and one URL? I want to be certain the new is up and running before I cancel the other.

Thanks!

The problem that comes with DNS is that changes take a while to propagate around the world. One way of smoothing things is to split the provision of the hosting and the nameservers. i.e. use 3rd party DNS. This means the hosting can be changed with a single A record change which is a lot quicker and smoother than changing nameservers. There are several free 3rd party DNS providers you can use.

I'm already committed to switching from an exsiting host that will cease business next week to having GoDaddy host.

Thanks for the advice.
