This is probably a stupid question, my knowledge of the web etc. is good to a certain extent but just have one issue:

I have a registered domain name which is fine, but with my hosting package I get a free alias basically another domain but what I want to do is make that domain name go to a specific page on my website.

To just explain this a bit my website will be my online photography portfolio so my main domain will go to my main homepage but what I want is for my new domain something to do with music pictures to go to my music photography portfolio page.

Is this at all possible and if it is in really basic terms how do I do it?

Sorry for the long post

Stu

Welcome to WebmasterWorld Stu. Please take a moment to read this forum's Charter and the WebmasterWorld TOS if you haven't done so already.

Regarding your question: When you say "alias" it sounds liky you are talking about "sub domains". (Alias is also a term applied to setting up email accounts.)

If it's sub-domains the you mean something that looks like this: Example.com and then Music.Example.com.

Please clarify what you mean if you can.

I assume you addressed the question to your host's support team. What did support advise?

It isn't a sub domain it is a domain which mirrors the site so you to www.a.com and you have registered www.b.com and they both go to the same place, I have asked my host but they say they cant do it but I'm sure you can!

For example, www.example1.com goes to www.example2.co.uk /gallery/index.html

[edit reason] use example instead of real domain names [/edit]

Do you want

www.example2.co.uk /gallery/index.html
to be the root or just the opening page?

Set up a seperate site / directory and then use a redirect to www.example2.co.uk/gallery/index.html If you want the www.example1.co.uk url to remain in the browser you'll need to use a frame too.

If you don't have your own name server you have to rely on your domain name registrar. For example Godaddy allows you to set a redirection to an arbitrary URL, such as domain.com/page.html. If your registrar does not allow you to do that, you should find a better one and transfer your domain to them.
