I have a pretty successful .co.uk web site that is not just geared to the UK market but other English speaking countries as well (mainly US and Australia). Although I am making affiliate sales I feel I might be losing out on the US / Aus because it is .co.uk

Therefore I have purchased the .net version (.com is gone unfortunatly) with a view of developing that.

I am not sure whether to fully develop it as a new site of make it just a one or two page country specific site or just point the domain to the .co.uk

My question is does the .co.uk hurt me on a worldwide scale - like I say I do get quite a bit of US traffic to the .co.uk anyway but it the extention a turn off to non UK people?

Has anyone else had this dilemma? I don't really want to fully develop a new site as it has taken a lot of hard work to get the .co.uk where it is.

As a U.S. resident/citizen I tend to view country code "cc" domains as "nation focused", not international.

I'd be inclined to dump the .net in favor of a dot com or .info unless the website is actually about network related technologies or services.

I'd agree with Webwork re the .co.uk being country focused.

However I disagree on the .net V .com in thius case

just do what ya gotta do I say.

Well I'd really like the .com but a US educational organisation has it and they have never replied to any of my emails!

I do make a point of stressing on my home page that it is an international site - does anyone else have any ideas how to make foreigners feel at home with a .co.uk?
