Domain renewal

I have a .co.uk domain name with a cheap hosting package which expires in a couple of months. I would like to retain the domain name but without having a hosting package, and just redirect visitors to a page of one of my other sites. With some domain rgistrar services, if you buy a domain you can just redirect it using their control panel.

Unfortunately, the company I am currently with won't do that. You have to have hosting with them or just leave it parked.

What do I do?
a) just forget about that domain (I don't want to)
b) bite the bullet and pay their hosting charges as well (too expensive - I'm a skinflint)
c) let it expire and then try to register it through another company (risky)
d) I'm a bit vague about this - presumably to transfer to another company I have to have a hosting package with them - or can I transfer it to another company now with no hosting and use their redirect service?
e) any other suggestions

Yes. You should be able to, as long as the current registrar releases it.

Sounds like transferring your domain to another registrar is what you need to do. Also sounds like the sooner you begin, the happier you may be.
