This mail is a particular domain specific, so i wonder of it is ok to post it in open forum. Moderators may please edit or delete is required.

There have been a number of posts regarding buying trademarked names as domain by separate parties.

I was recently watching domains very similar to name InterNic ( in country specific cctld ) who are doing brisk business selling domains and hosting etc.

Now, as I see, Internic is a respected name in the internet domain booking arena, though it does not book any domain. The name does command a respect and can be used as a boost to any domain seller or reseller.

Is this allowed, or leagally ok?

Refering to [icann.org...]

the 4b(iv) para.

(iv) by using the domain name, you have intentionally attempted to attract, for commercial gain, Internet users to your web site or other on-line location, by creating a likelihood of confusion with the complainant's mark as to the source, sponsorship, affiliation, or endorsement of your web site or location or of a product or service on your web site or location.

looks illigal, but does not clarify enough ..

Checking at more similar domains, I noticed that the same name domain ( internic ) is used in .ca and .co.uk are also doing business under the same name.

Studying the above two cases, i dont see their affiliation with the main internic organization.
