Hi All,

I am moving a site to a new domain name and host. I dont want to loose old traffic.

If I redirect the old domain will that take care of everything?

If users see an old page still listed in Google and click on the link will redirecting the domain work?

Would like any advice and guidance on offer.

Chris

I take it that the old domain will remain registered and hosted somewhere?

If so the easiest way would probably to redirect using htaccess (if the old domain is on a linux box) as a permanent redirect. That way the bots and humans will be automatically redirected to the new domain and host.

Of course, if you just let the old domain expire then, obviously, traffic to the old site will not be redirected.

What are you doing about the inbound links to the old site.
