Domain transfer question

I'm in the process of trying to transfer some domains from one registrar to another. I have now received the emails saying "Transfer Away request has been received". The email names the registrar I want to change from, but does not mention the name of the registrar I want to move to. How can I be certain that during the time the domains have been unlocked that someone else didn't try to steal them and get their transfer request in before mine and this email is due to their trying to get my domains and send them to a different registrar? Maybe I worry too much, but it seems possible that this could happen.

Sorry, I guess I have it sorted out now. But - I had to follow the link in the email and on that page it stated the registrar I wanted to move too. And it was the right one. If I had decided not to do anything, which lets the transfer take place, and it was attempting to be sent to the wrong registrar by someone else, I wouldn't have known. It seems they should have to say in the email both the registrar it is being transferred from and to.

Theft does happen in the way you describe. Best bet is to unlock before transfer, watch the emails you get and make sure you know what emails you're supposed to get (so you can follow up if you don't receive them), and then lock the domain again when it's transferred.

As long as your email addresses are accurate and active, you should not have much problem. We own thousands of domains, never lost one to a thief. ;-)
