Hi all,

I've seen a domain name that I wish to purchase.
It's a .co.uk and it ends in fordummies.co.uk
(i.e: #*$!xxfordummies.co.uk)

Now, the name of this domain also happens to be the name of one of the 'Blah Blah for Dummies' style books. My site is not going to pretend to be these books, or the publisher, but offer simple advice (for dummies) about subject xxxxxx.

Do you think this is a bit close to the bone, bearing in mind I'm not planning to use any similar colour schemes, logos, or anything else to intentionally make my site look like the books?

Thanks in advance,

Craig

Not copyright. Trademark, and yes, a bad idea.

Is "fordummies" a brand?

I think it really, really depends on the name, if it is too generic ... I mean, for example, a book on databases called "database concepts", then a site is also called "database concepts dot com", is that a trademake infringement?
I don't think so.

It's a tricky one - I mean, they have books on loads of subjects...
Just 'cos they have a book called widgets for dummies, should I avoid the domain name?
I'm still uuming and aahing about this one. I'll make my mind up soon...
(It's a nice name though...)
