Hi

Do people look at the domain name / page url when scanning the top ten search engine results to decide where they should click?

Has anyone seen any studies on click thru rates when users see different domain extensions but matching keywords within domains that appear on the first page results?

for example - some one searches for the keyword "example"
search results show title tag, grabbed page content and the domain name and page name

if people do look at also the domain name name
1 www.example.us
2 www.example.net
3 www.example.com
4 www.example.org
5 www.example.info

Which would you click on?
or does everthing just relate to the amount of actual domain extensions that are owned?

Cheers

Not aware of any studies.

More concerned about quality of site and its content than it's URL.

People will type .com by default but there's some hope that they're learning.

When using domain examples here use a generic reference: Widgets.tld or the like. Don't use specific examples as they are an invitation to spamming the forum.

Of course in the UK people also type ".co.uk" by default.

My mum puts .com.au on the end of emails to me because I live in Australia, even though my domain is a .com
