Are these domains really worth anything?

.in .md .la .it .tk etc

I have tried out some really good keywords on some of these crazy extentions and I am wondering whether they are worth the effort?

For instance I managed to get 'my home town' .in which is a big UK city. There were lots of other examples such as 'surf' , 'books' etc etc

Surely these must worth something as decent .com / .net etc become rare as you like!

As of now worhtless, except for the slight SEO benifits on a particular SE. However, you never know what the future holds

These are country codes, not "crazy extensions". Use .in if you are targetting India, .it if you are targetting Italy.

Admittedly some registrars have been selling domain names on very small countries to all comers. I think it's a pity, although I have to admit to considering that several have attractive extensions

I think they're worthless outside their target nation, or I should say not worth anything more than a weak .com. Actually, I think you're better off with a weak .com. It seems people have a psychological barrier to accepting sites on unusual extensions. In terms of SEO, any mild keyword benefit will be off set by increasing geo targeting in the search engines most likely.
