Registered .us domain with Yahoo. Lousy service. Have to jump through 15 hoops before transfering to another registrar.

Takes 1 minute to obtain authorisation code to transfer a .us domain name away from Namecheap.com, but with Yahoo they put so many obstacles in your way. Need to telephone them. Had to phone them three times and kept waiting half an hour each time. Then they give you number to login at Melbourne IT of whom they are a reseller. Then you have to login at their site. Then you have to try to obtain authorisation code from them to transfer domain name away. Total nightmare. Wasted hours of my time, plus cost me huge amount in international call charges.

At least I made my money back because Yahoo mistakenly paid me triple affiliate commission on registering numerous domain names.

Step number 390 to transfer away. Finally received email from Yahoo with login details for Melbourne IT. Sent half an hour surfing the Melbourne IT website and help section. Not a single sentence in Melbourne IT on obtaining authorisation code to transfer a .us domain name away from them. So now have to email them.

Process takes a few minutes with other registrars, but with Yahoo domains it is becoming a complete nightmare.

I can really relate to this as I went thru the same thing. Took forever to get auth codes from melbourne, they did not want to give them up. They (mel) and Y do everything in thier power to make you give up trying to get the codes. It took me about two months to get three auth codes. The icing on the cake was when I initiated transfer to Godaddy, melbourne refused to release the names. Even know I had the auth codes. Godaddy actually sent me an email saying that melbourne was refusing the transfer reguest. I give a lot of credit to Godaddy as they fought on my behalf to get these names from Melbourne and were susesful.

Melbournes lack of mention of authorization codes on thier site, or directions to get one, further show that they discourage transfers.

Your post brought back my anger in doing business with these creeps.

I am extremly tempted to make a melbourne sucks site
