I have seen several competitors throw up "quick / dirty" sites on freebie sites (geocities, etc)
Is there a limit to the number of subdomains you can register yourself on one of these services?
do they cookie you / check your IP - and stop you from throwing up 100 sites?

I think what they do is register a hundred or so times with different emails addresses using different profiles, ips. More than likely the hosts put up with it because they run there pop ups and other ads on the freebies. My first site was one of these free pages on angelfire (which was one of the best for free sites) for my old band and pretty well let it stagnate but left it up as the link in is still good even though i dont develop it anymore.
