I've heard people mention something about placing bids if more than one person backordered a particular domain name, and then the highest bidder wins the domain name.
Is the bidding process only initiated if more than one person backordered the same domain name using the same backordering service?
Or does it apply to everyone using different services?
For example, let's say that I use GoDaddy to grab a domain name, and someone who is trying to grab the same domain name is using Snap Names, would I still have to enter an auction to win this domain name, or does it just boil down to who grabs the name first?
Thanks!
GoDaddy doesn't do auctions. They won't let you backorder a domain that's already backordered by another of their customers.
AND you can't find out if one of their other customers has backordered the domain you want until AFTER you pay for their $18.95 service and then try to backorder the domain.
(service is non-refundable, but can be applied to another domain, which may or may not ALSO be backordered by one of their customers...)
If you go through the backorder page to start with, you'll be buying backorder credits, but it won't ask what domain until after you've paid.
