Domain Disputes in UK

I recently filed for a domain dispute case with Nominent (equivalant of ICANN in UK) for someone that had registered co.uk version of my domain and I won. I own the US Trademark on the name and the other party ended up not responding to the case.

I ended up paying about $1700 US for an expert decision. Now that I have won the case, I want to know if anyone has had a similar case and has been able to collect the funds from the loosing party and what I could do to recover these funds.

Keep in mind that I am based in the US. Also, if anyone in UK knows any attorneys that specialize in collection or Trademark type cases like this, please sticky me with their contact info.

sorry dude

I know what you are referring to, however have never heard of anyone being able to collect the money paid for the arbitration panel from the losing party.

Domain dispute resolution policies only work to either allow or deny transfer of domains,
not give due compensation.

There is no mechanism under the DRS policy for the recovery of the £750 fee. The only way to pursue it would be to retain a UK attorney and take action through the UK court system. Given the fact that you would probably have to pay thousands of pounds for the chance to recover £750 it really isn't worth it. Plus if the respondent didn't even bother to reply he probably doesn't even have £750 to his name.

Recovering a valuable piece of IP for just £750 is a real bargain, pat yourself on the back and write this one off.
