Registering .orgs

Are they really much value?

I have noiticed a lot of .org names up for sale, in some cases good double keyword names. This can only mean they are not valued and way behind .com and maybe even .net

While I appreciate that .com is king and will always be imho would you rank .org over .net and even .co.uk (this site is not linked solely to the UK but woud be worldwide.

I think .org's are better than .net. Traditionally .org stands for non-profit organizations. With this in mind, many top-notch non-profit companies have built their web presence with .org names.

Just my personal preference, I would choose a .org over a .net anyday.

.org has less value IMO because traditionally, non profits don't have much dough. however, FOR PROFIT corps do have a little more dough to spend on that. therefore, they're willing to pay more than a nonprofit.

so i think dotnet has a bit more value to it.

I'll bet there's more for-profit .org sites out there than non-profit .orgs
Eventually it will br thought of as just another .tld
(IMO)

I'd suggest you read the PIR.org site, which is the URL for the entity managing the .Org TLD. They do a pretty good job of explaining where they intend to take the domain.

With rare exception I don't see the .Org TLD as having a significant aftermarket, especially in the realm of 2 word domains.

Here's a hard earned tip: If you are looking to speculate, and have a limited (<$10,000) budget you would do far better in the long run by buying a few decent .Infos in the aftermarket than buying all the unregistered .Infos, etc. that you can find.

The landscape is littered with people who've reg'ed 100+ domains and never sold more than 1 or 2, for which effort they've seldom recouped their investment.

It's a lot like the lottery. So many people buy tickets. Very very few ever end up with a net gain.
