How much for a Domain Name?

I have a Domain Name left over from a business adventure with a partner which has now stopped trading. The Partners has now left.

The partner had set up a subdirectory from the domain name to sell model metal toys. The website still gets around 500 ~ 700 hits a month from people who are looking for these toys.

The site has a low PR (3)

Roughly how much is it worth? This is a new area for me as I am not into selling domain names. Your advice would be appreciated.

Your domain could be worth $10 to thousands of dollars depending on many factors such as how many sites link to it, how short, memorable, easy to spell, and the its market.

Your best bet would be to list the domain name on sites that sell them, such as Sedo, Great Domains, Afternic, etc. There you'll be able to get offers.

A general rule of thumb, without something extraordinary, is 4 to 10 times monthly earnings. I know trains are a passion with many people so if you find the right person you could get 10 months. I am guessing that most buyers will not go beyone 2 months earnings. Why? A small e-com site takes less than a week to launch and a PR3 takes little effort. If the product you sell is very difficult to secure and you can give the new owner your 'account' with the manufacturer you can sell the site for more.

I have sold several Adsense sites this year and never received more than 10 months earnings - and those earnings are almost pure profit. Internet income based upon the SERP's is just too fleeting for buyers to invest heavily.

Right now, *many* people are buying sites based upon how long the site has been listed in the Google index. These buyers are less interested in sales than they are the number of pages indexed, age of site, PR etc.

For a ROM estimate, you might try [swiftappraisal.com...] Remember the GIGO rule, though.
