Has anybody ever tried to promote a brandable domain name to the users and use the seo domain name for the search engines?

I have never tried this, but i have heard that it is best to go with one domain per site ... and where possible, that domain should resemble the name of your company - rather than representing important keywords simply for the sake of Search Engines.

You would also have to be careful with how you setup your redirects as some SE's look harshly upon redirecting URL's and Mirror sites.

Would be great if it worked though! ha ha ha! However, the rules are there to encourage fair play amongst everyone.

Hope this helps!

A lot of companies use a brandable domain name on their offline advertising which redirects to their main site. Not only is it easier for people to remember but it also helps calculate campaign ROI.

I do this all the time.

SEO domain is used as a search engine "catch" with traffic then being directed to the online store or other monetised brand website, with AdSense and affiliate links catching the "I'm clicking out of here and I don't want to visit your shop" traffic.

It's a good model.
