domain transfer denied by reseller-registrar

I registered my first domain name 4 years ago with a registrar who also operates a hosting service. Last year I tried to transfer the domain to a refutable registrar who charges 50% cheaper than my current registrar. I was disappointed that my current registrar would not grant the transfer so this domain is still with them until now.

I wanted to transfer because I found out that this registrar is just a reseller-registrar. I don't have full control of my domain name because they use their own contact info for ADMIN, TECH, and BILLING. When I do a WHOIS, my name is there ONLY as the owner but they don't even put my email ad. Contact info for ADMIN, TECH, and BILLING are theirs!

QUESTION: Is there an easier way to get these resellers grant transfers? What shall I do? Please help. I know that they're dealing with joker.com. Will it help if I contact joker.com directly?

Didn't the rules change recently?

As I now understand it, request a transfer and it will happen within 5 days unless pro-actively denied.......so, please explain how this doesn't work for you?

I've just requested transfer for this domain. Have to wait 5 days before I can say if the new rules work for me.
