I've tried to search in google but the costs seem to average 200 quid a domain. i only speak english so cant understand some of the none english sites although i did manage to buy a italian domain with not much problems :)
Please help. why cant life be as simple as buying a .co.uk
Many of the countries listed have residence requirements for buying their domain names, so this can severely limit your chances of being able to buy a domain.
If you need to get around such restrictions, I believe there are certain companies who buy the domain name on your behalf, but it would be very expensive and you need to have a level of trust if you're going to build a site on a domain name bought in that way.
the residence thing is a big headache and i think its very unfair, very unEurope.
The companies on google do provide a service where they use their own office but a. its expesnive, b. as you said, its a trust thing.
i was hoping maybe some members of this forum have some prior experiance and can suggest something
why cant life be as simple as buying a .co.uk
I bought an existing .co.uk website from a person and I thought it was a pain in the bum.
Having to go through Nominet to change ownership (using paper forms) and then the register to change registration seemed like an exceptional amount of buracracy. The uk system might be better than the us for stopping hijacking, but it was slow and cost an extra 35 quid.
This really ticks me off as I've registered dozens of domains in other TLDs and all the registrars support name server delegation.
I know the TOS forbid URLs so can someone sticky me if they have one.
Tks.
