nic.de won't tell me the expiring date of a domain

how can I find out anyway? (if possible)

I've searched for a .de domain at nic.de. It's alread registered. However the current domain holder has not used the domain since 1999. Now I would like to know the expiring date - but nic.de won't tell me.

They say "Unfortunately we are not allowed to give any kind of information regarding domain holders and expiring dates. All this aspect are part of the data security regulations."

What should I do?

Would using allwhois.com [allwhois.com] or the WHOIS from dnsstuff.com [dnsstuff.com] work?
