Transferring Domain Name - Hidden Clauses?

Hello,

I'm considering changing web host providers and the new provider gives an option of transferring your domain name. I'm paying $35.00/year currently and I'd like to tranfer it to save $$ but am concerned that I may lose the domain name in the process. I had heard about a company awhile ago that offered to transfer domains and in the end "they" became the owner of the domain - unbeknownst to the original owner! Do people transfer domain names and are there any hidden clauses with some providers (both the old and new providers?)

Thanks!

Just use a reputable comapany and you should have no problem...

You should have absolutely no problem finding a registra to transfer and renew for about $8....

Before you do transfer your domain name, you may want to consider the possibility
if the new one's customer support reliability is strong or weak. More importantly,
read that provider or registrar's Terms Of Service or Service Agreement thoroughly.
