i need some advice on this matter, ive just agreed to sell my site, theres no stock involved which I imagine makes the process easier, however I would like some advice on how to go about this.

My host has been contacted re change of name etc, is that all I need to do?

Although it only sold for a small amount im well pleased.

Actually, it should involve a change of registrant procedure, not just updating the WhoIs record. Sometimes this requires the buyer to execute a form. Sometimes this can be done online.

Assuming you have a sales contract/agreement in place - which I guess you have - this should be all you need to do. Will likely take around 48-96 hours - perhaps even shorter.

You'll want to ensure that you update the data via the domain name's registar.

Wait a second here. You sold your *site*? I am thinking so, and not you just sold a domain name, because you mentioned stock involved. No stock would be involved in a simple domain name ownership transfer. What is the ballpark of how much money involved? If significant, you may want to see a lawyer. However, considering how expensive lawyers are, unless there is a lot of money involved this could eat up the full cost of the sale. IANAL, but the good part is you are the seller. All you need to worry about is getting paid by the seller. Thus I'm thinking get the cash first, or do it through escrow.
