IPv6 will increase the number of numerical addresses massively, increasing capacity to 340 billion, billion, billion, billion numbers. This should allow for virtually any number of new computers or devices to be connected to the internet in the future. IPv6 will also introduce reliability and security enhancements.

IPv6 is very old news they have been trying to push that for some time. I guess it is signifacant that the root servers have switched to it but I really don't see it being widespread for some time.

well I hope it will really be bad news for spammers, because ...

- spammers can get away with it because they're untraceable,
- reason: they send / relay spam from dynamic IPs,
- there's lots of dynamic IPs in use 'cos there aren't enough static IPs to go round,
- IPv6 will give us zillions more IPs,
- so let's give every computer in the world a static IP and make them all traceable and accountable,
- end of spam

(I hope)

I recall seeing an article in teh 90's about how we could never run out of IP addresses.

Now aint that funny?

I guess that IPv6 is going to mean that DNS Block Lists are going to get pretty big, pretty quickly. :-)
