From this article [zdnet.com.au] regarding the ongoing 'difference of opinion' as to the benifits or drawbacks of the Verisign Site-Finder system, "a long-awaited report evaluating the impact of VeriSign's controversial Site Finder service concludes that it had undesirable side effects, violated commonly accepted codes of Internet conduct, and should remain offline."

Well, that's a shame. Got lots of nice, free traffic from Site Finder when it was live.

SiteFinder was a clear abuse of the DNS, and I'm glad it ended (almost 20,000 folks agreed with a petition I started, and most were VEHEMENTLY opposed to the wildcards that VeriSign introduced).
