Hello Everyone,

I am new to affiliate sales, well everything! I have read many books on affiliate sales. I am concerned some of the imformation may be out of date. I have everything in place, as in, merchant, keywords, and software(not self-optimising),etc. I have read to name your site your main keyword phrase, use the same ones in your title, and have them sprinkled throughout the page. Looking at some of the old threads, I am totally confused. Then, what about naming the content pages, as secondarary terms, is this a bad thing to do? Also, I have a question about linking strategies, is it still alright to link with a page that has similar content?
Could you suggest how I could find out about getting high rankings in Google?

This isn't anyone's fault at all, I was just so unaware. Just when I was feeling confident, talk about having the breath knocked out of me! Yikes!
I had rather know now, then after I had registered.

Welcome to the forums missbear.

Yes, choosing a domain name that contains your keyword(s) is helpful, although the other approach of building business with more of a "branded" domain name can also be effective. In general, keywords in the domain name are not nearly as big a factor on search engines as they once were - but they may also help "draw the click" from users.

Good luck on you "learning curve."

Note: Because you are just beginning, you naturally do have a lot of questions.
Since this is the Domain Names forum, we should confine this discussion
to just that area - the domain name. The other topics belong in their
specific forums (Google, Link Development, Affiliates, etc)

Particularly notice the small "Library" link towards the top-left
of each forum. That's where some of the best past threads in that topic
are stored. And right next to Library you'll find "Charter" which will
explain any specific policies about posting in that forum.

Oh, Thank you so much!

I guess once I got started, .... ;-)

I really do appreciate the advise. It was knowing where to ask and get an answer I could trust that made things OK for me. I dissect my message and put them in the other threads.

Thank you again.

Well, you're quite wise to question whether any advice you get is accurate for your situation. Even on the best forums in the world (like here :) ) some of what you read may be mere opinion, or even mis-information that no one got around to correcting. And other items may be the purest, most well informed and up to date input you could hope for.

Also, if you read newsletters, e-books, other websites, or articles in print, then that information may also be out of date or misguided in various ways. You'll build up your BS detector in know time if you keep reading and participating here.
