Domain Status

Should there ever be more than one?

I am interested in picking up a domain that expired in May. I noticed that the whois from Internic shows two statuses. I've never seen that before and didn't think it was possible.

The two statuses are REGISTRAR-LOCK and REGISTRAR-HOLD. They are listed as two separate fields (like name servers). So it looks like this:

Domain Name: EXAMPLE.COM
Registrar: TUCOWS INC.
Whois Server: whois.openrs.net
Referral URL: [domainhelp.tucows.com...]
Name Server: NS1.EXAMPLE.COM
Name Server: NS2.EXAMPLE.COM
Status: REGISTRAR-LOCK
Status: REGISTRAR-HOLD
Updated Date: XX-may-2004
Creation Date: XX-may-XXXX
Expiration Date: XX-may-2004

Can anyone offer any insight as to why there are two statuses?

I should add: I know what the two statuses mean (at least I think I do). I just didn't realize that a domain could have two simultaneous statuses. I thought that REGISTRAR-HOLD had all of the same restrictions as REGISTRAR-LOCK plus the added restriction that the name no longer resolves. So it seems that two statuses (in this case anyway) aren't needed.

Probably a glitch of sorts. The HOLD is the one that matters.
